SEWA CRAFT CENTRE
> COMMON FACILITATION CENTRE
As part of KVIC's mission to establish Common Facilitation Centres (CFCs) across rural Gujarat, SEWA was brought on board as the implementation agency, while we were appointed as the architects to design the CFC at Kadi. The CFCs play a crucial role in the SFURTI (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) initiative. Launched by the Ministry of MSME in 2005, this scheme aims to promote cluster development. KVIC serves as the nodal agency for the promotion of cluster development for Khadi and Village Industries (V.I.) products.
To date, 76 clusters have been established under this scheme, with many already completed. The CFC at Kadi is unique as it operates on a dual model: the center serves as a hub for women to gather, train, and finish products, while sewing machines are distributed for them to work from home. This innovative approach enhances both community collaboration and individual productivity.
