APNI LARI 2.0

> THE MOBILE SHELTER

This project was motivated by the contemporary need to address urban marginality, displacement, and citizen disfranchisement. Our summer course ‘construction as activism’ led to the development of a transportable, D-I-T emergency shelter on wheels for a small Indian family. Students collaborated with CCA in designing and constructing the shelter, which provided basic living conditions and a chance to start a livelihood: while not a long-term solution, 'Apni Lari 2.0' serves as a transitional infrastructure for immediate response to humanitarian emergencies, filling the gap between larger responses involving support, policy, and architecture.
