HUSK HOUSE
> HURRICANE RESILENCE
The house, as an isolated building, re-creates with its scale, language, and relationship with the landscape, the simplicity, and proportions of the traditional Caribbean single-family house. Its structural qualities -in tandem with its dynamic and changeable facades- directly respond to an increased necessity to protect coastal communities from recurring disasters, specifically hurricanes which are increasingly present on account of climate change. An adaptable unit that nevertheless preserves a protective shell -a husk- against hostile environmental circumstances.
